But she only says that in "flashes" and she nods as to say that she remembers and that what she said was true. But both our theories dont line up with what we learn 5:06: 316 when Desmond says: "this bloody woman cost me four years of my life because she told me that I was supposed to go to the island, that it was my bloody purpose!". I believed that the events of 3x08 took place in some pocket dimension where he could relive important events of his life. At one point I had a similar theory to you. I really like you this but I don't think it completely holds up to scrutiny. ![]() I admit that this is a stretch, but it’s the only theory i could come up with for this episode, and i wanna know what you think? Is this possibly right, or has this show driven me to insanity? The reason for him not waking up naked after his ‘event’ in 6x11 could be due to the amount of radiation he was exposed to was significantly less than in 3x08. Maybe, after Desmond goes through these events, he dies (or comes close enough to death where he’s ‘on the border’) and is reborn, either due to the Island ‘not being done with him yet’ or just because of his special relationship with electromagnetism. In the show we see both Life and Death, so maybe we also see rebirth. Another point is that in 6x11, Desmond is only transported to the Purgatory because Whidmore puts him through another electromagnetic event, similar to the one that he experiences at the end of Season 2, and after both of these incidents he is transported to a very similar place.Īnother piece of evidence that supports my theory is that Desmond wakes up naked after the turning of the Key, which is seemingly a random detail, until you consider the fact that in 6x15, The Mother says that the Source of the Island is ‘Life, Death, Rebirth’. Now in 3x08, she has a very similar role as a sort of ‘Guide’. Also, in 6x11, Happily Ever After, Eloise tells Desmond to stop looking for Penny, as she knows that will cause him to remember the rest of his life before. ![]() In The End, Eloise and Desmond have a conversation at the Concert, and it’s very clear that Eloise has a good idea of how the Purgatory works and what it’s ‘rules’ are. He also recalls a night in a bar where a chain of events occur, and he remembers that this will happen on a certain night, but then it turns out he got ‘the wrong night’. For example, he meets Charlie in this dimension, and obviously he doesn’t meet him Pre-Island in real life. Now here’s the crazy part- i think this ‘dimension’ was the Purgatory seen throughout Season 6.Īs i previously stated, Desmond experiences things that are fairly similar to his real life, which is exactly what happens in the Purgatory. In this ‘mirror dimension’ he also meets with Eloise, who somehow seems to know what’s going on and why it’s happening. When Hurley finds him naked in the Jungle, it’s clear that he has been through something, but what? Now in 3x08, it shows us that after he turned the Key, he woke up in an ‘alternate universe’ where he was experiencing things that were identical, or very similar, to his real life. Spoilers for the whole show.Īfter Desmond turned the Key, he was exposed to very high levels of electromagnetic radiation. So ever since my first watch, Season 3 Episode 8, Flashes Before Your Eyes has been one of the episodes that i didn’t really have any answers for, so after my first rewatch, i’ve made a, probably wrong, theory about what happened to Desmond after he turned the Key in The Swan. ![]() 12/30/2023 0 Comments Repetition unity in art![]() ![]() Repetition: a principle of art and design concerned with one or more of the elements in a work of art being repeated again. In symmetrical balance, the two sides of the artwork have the same or similar elements If the design was a scale, these elements should be balanced. īalance is the distribution of the visual weight in a work of art. Pattern and repetition can help create Unity. Pattern is created by Repetition, when an element of art repeats in an artwork. It is the relationship between the sizes of objects or parts of a whole in a picture. Proportion refers to the relative size and scale of the various elements in a design. Variety can be created in many ways: changing a single element of art or using many elements at once. Variety is the use of several different elements to hold the viewer’s attention and make it visually interesting. Rhythm can be used to create a feeling of Movement, which leads the viewer’s eye around the work of art. Instead of sound, artists add visual “beats” to a picture. Rhythm is created when one or more elements of design are used repeatedly: think of rhythm in music. This is created by repeating similar elements in a work of art: color, line, textures, shapes, etc. Unity is the feeling of Harmony between all parts of the work of art, which creates a sense of oneness or wholeness. This is created by Contrast where something is different in size, color, texture, shape, etc. Usually the artist will make one area stand out by making it different from other areas. Emphasis is the part of the design that catches the viewer’s attention. ![]() 12/30/2023 0 Comments Riverpod v2![]() The syntax and feel of riverpod are much better than bloc’s, and once you learn it, it becomes a joy to write the code.īut not everything’s perfect. The dependency injection is of a much higher standard than bloc’s. It provides a similar level of documentation, and many people are starting to pick it up in their real-world applications. To wrap up, riverpod is a great state management package that, on many occasions, is simpler than bloc. You can mock different layers, like in the example above, and test your widgets this way, but it’s imperfect as you don’t completely control what you’re displaying.Ĭreating a wrapper class for StateNotifier and setting the desired state directly there would be another solution. And here is the problem - you can’t mock state notifiers’ state (or at least at the point of writing this article, more info here). At AppUnite, we usually try to mock the lowest layer we can, so we ensure to test only the UI and not everything in between. Widget and golden tests are another story because they depend on your approach. Although it doesn’t provide an additional library for tests like bloc, nothing more than the standard flutter test library and mockito/mocktail should be enough. Testing the state notifier is pretty straightforward. If they are not initialized by the point of accessing them, they will be initialized then. It’s also worth mentioning that when creating a provider, you get access to the ref, with which you can access other dependencies like in the example above. You can do it by adding a modifier to the StateNotifierProvider like this: ![]() Usually, you don’t want to keep the state of the particular widget through its lifetime, and you wish to auto-dispose it once it’s closed. ProviderScope works exactly like RepositoryProvider, it creates objects when they’re listened to.īecause ProviderScope is localized on top of the widgets tree, disposing of the dependencies is not easy. To make it work, you need to wrap your app with ProviderScope, and that’s it. Riverpod replaces BlocProviders and RepositoryProviders with, you guessed it, “providers.” It consists of the same issues that riverpod tries to solve. Dependency Injectionīloc, highly inspired by a provider, uses a simple DI. You can also wrap futures, streams, or even singular values into providers and use them in your widgets with the same WidgetRef logic, which can turn out pretty handy, especially if you want to test these. listen method that listens to the state’s changes without rebuilding the widget, just without nesting another widget in your widget tree. With it, you can more easily decide which parts of the UI should be rebuilt or used inside a StatefulWidget. There’s also Consumer as a widget that you can use inside your widget tree (similar to BlocBuilder). * ConsumerWidget acts just as a StatelessWidget, with a handy way to access your providers with WidgetRef. Ok, enough talking, let’s see the widget: ![]() ![]() Well, little to no difference, riverpod offers similar. Ok, but what about widget level? What’s the difference there? The implementation of both is very similar, and both are based on StreamController, an already proven concept in real-world applications. When you look at the code, it’s nearly identical: Riverpod has something very similar to Cubit, called StateNotifier. Ok, let’s start with a simple fetch data example Cubit like this: So it’d be better if you had at least basic knowledge of bloc before reading this. Note that I won’t be explaining how bloc works. It solves many problems of provider package and adds additional features that the provider wasn’t capable of doing, but how does it compare to a bloc? How does it manage the state? How about dependency injection? Is it testable in the same way as a bloc is? I’ll try to answer all of these while going in-depth on how riverpod works compared to bloc. Lately, Riverpod, a “better version of provider” created by no one else than the original creator of provider Remi Rousselet, has been a hot topic in the Flutter community. ![]() 12/30/2023 0 Comments Barbarella timeless tattoo![]() ![]() A friend of mine took me around to some different shops. I think she sensed my apprehension because she said if I needed it touched up or more color added, she would do that for free.
